To make your experience the best it can be:
- Dress comfortably, refrain from using heavy fragrances, and please turn cell phones off.
- Do not eat anything heavy 2 hours before yoga. If you feel hungry, eat something light.
- Yoga class begins with a “centering,” then flows into warm-ups, breathing techniques, postures and Vinyasa (flows of postures). Yoga class ends with 10-15 minutes of shavasana (relaxation), a reading and then a final blessing.
- Feel free to ask any questions you may have, before or after class.
- The “different” sounding words that you may hear during class are Sanskrit. Sanskrit is the ancient Indian language that was used when Yoga was first written about.
- Feel free to stop and watch if that would make you more comfortable.
- ALWAYS LISTEN TO WHAT YOUR BODY TELLS YOU! Never go to a place of pain. You may feel stretch or sensation, though. Let go of comparing yourself to others and release self-judgment. Do not force yourself to be flexible or strong. Both will come with time.
- Be patient and don’t give up!
- Enjoy…and breathe…!
